Proved at Chester on the 4th day of October 1886 by the oath of Mary Priestnall, Spinster, the Sister, one of the executors to whom administration was granted. Power reserved of making the like grant to John Charles Priestnall, the nephew, the other executor. The testator, George Priestnall was late of Carr Farm, Butley in the County of Chester, Farmer and died on 2nd day of July 1886 at Carr Farm aforesaid.
Will
This is the last Will and Testament of me George Priestnall of Carr Farm, Butley in the County of Chester, Farmer. I hereby revoke all wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore made before and declare this to be my last Will. I devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate whatsoever unto and to the use of my nephew, John Charles Priestnall of Stockport in the County of Chester, Draper and my sister, Mary Priestnall of Butley aforesaid, Spinster their heirs executors and administrators respectively according to the nature and ???? thereof upon trust that the said John Charles Priestnall and Mary Priestnall or the survivors of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor (which said persons and other the trustees or trustee for the time being of this my Will are hereinafter aforesaid to as “the said trustees or trustee”) shall sell, call in, effect or otherwise convert into money such parts of the said trust promises as shall not consist of ready money shall out of the moneys to arise from such sale calling in collection and conversion and the ready money of which I shall be possessed at my death pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and shall stand possessed of the residue of the said money as to one moiety thereof. In trust for my wife Hannah absolutely and as to the other moiety or share of the said of the said residue in trust for my daughter Mary Elizabeth to be paid or transferred to her on her attaining the age of twenty one years or marrying under that age. And I direct that the said trustees or trustee in the meantime to invest the same moiety or share in or upon any of the public stocks or funds or government securities of the United Kingdom or upon freehold, copyhold, leasehold or chattel or similar of England or Wales or in or upon the shares, stocks or securities of any company or corporation whether Commercial, Municipal, Local or otherwise carrying on business as constituted for any purpose in the United Kingdom. And to vary the said stocks, funds, shares and securities at their or his direction. And to apply all or such fund as the said trustees or trustee shall think fit of the income of the said moiety or share and the investments representing the same or towards the maintenance, education or benefit of my said daughter and in the case of the failure of the preceding trust in favour of my said daughter, I bequeath the same moiety or share to my said sister Mary, her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns absolutely. And I appoint my said nephew John Charles Priestnall and my said sister Mary Priestnall trustees of this my Will and guardians of my said daughter during her minority.
In witness thereof I the said George Priestnall have hereunder set my hand, this twenty fifth day of March one thousand eight hundred and eighty five.
Signed by the above George Priestnall as his last Will in the presence of us present at the same time and in his presence and in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
